Hopes are high that a decision to axe a village’s only bus service may be overturned.
Five Lancashire county councillors have requested that the decision made earlier this month not to support a proposal to put out tenders for a new two hourly bus service in Sabden, be “called in.”
The Scrutiny committee will meet tomorrow (Friday May 13th) to consider whether or not the decision should be the subject of a “call in.”
If the committee agrees that the decision shouldbe looked at again this must be registered with the Chief Executive who will the have the power to affirm, amend or rescind the decision.
Villagers launched a protest after it was annonced they would be left without any public transport at all. They have lobbied the county council and set up their own action group in a bid to get a bus service running in the village that has around 1,200 residents.
