Weather forecasters at the Met Office are predicting that Wast Lancashire could see its first snow of the winter this weekend, as temperatures start to drop.

And it was this time last year - December 11th - that the area got its first significant snowfall of the winter, settling on the region’s roads and pavements.

Today’s forecast is for a chilly and windy day with sunny spells and blustery showers, locally heavy and wintry over higher ground, but becoming less frequent through the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 7°C.

Overnight showers will ease with most places becoming dry with clear spells, leading to a widespread frost. Minimum Temperature 2°C.

On Saturday, milder and wetter weather will move north-eastwards, preceded by snow over the hills. Maximum Temperature 10°C.

The outlook for Sunday to Tuesday is for rain moving north on Sunday with milder, drier conditions following. Remaining unsettled, mild and windy with further bands of rain and local gales into the new working week.
