Firefighters tackled a blaze at a derelict Burnley house.
Flames were spotted shooting through the roof of the terraced property in Hurtley Street on Tuesday night
Three pumps and an aerial ladder platform had to be called in over fears the fire could spread to neighbouring properties.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at around 8pm and managed to bring the flames under control.
The blaze is being treated as suspicious.
Crew manager Martin Marsh, of Burnley Fire Station, said: “Someone had taken one of the boards off around the back. It must have been someone mucking about inside setting fire to the bedroom upstairs.
“The fire had burned through the roof – there was a lot of thick black smoke coming out. We thought it would spread further than it did.”
