A FIRE gutted a bedroom at an empty house in Stoneyholme.
The blaze, which started at 9-50am on Wednesday, damaged the back bedroom of an unoccupied terraced house in Evelyn Street.
Station manager Chris Waring said: “There was some concern the fire may have spread through the roof space to neighbouring homes so we requested an aerial ladder platform.
“The fire itself was contained to a bedroom. We don’t know as yet what started it. It may have been deliberate because we have had a number of break-ins recently with people trying to steal piping from empty houses.”
