A MOTHER had to call the fire brigade when she accidentally locked her keys in the car with her baby still inside.

The woman was picking an elder child up from St Stephen’s Primary School in Woodgrove Road when she left the keys in the ignition of her Renault Megane on Wednesday afternoon.

Crew manager Rick Courtney said: “The lady was obviously concerned because her 18 month old baby was still in the car.

“We used wooden wedges and a coat hanger to retrieve the keys and open the car. It only took 10 minutes and the baby was fine.”
