A Hapton-based family engineering company is helping to renovate a popular beauty spot.
Hardy Services, based at Network 65, has been awarded the coveted contract by United Utilities to renovate Wayoh reservoir, near Bolton, as the first stage of an £160,000 programme to improve safety at five reservoirs in the North-West.
The work at Wayoh involves cleaning the spillway by removing all the vegetation and jet-washing the face of the stonework before pressure-grouting the original stone.
A second team from Hardys has already begun similar work at other reservoirs in Cumbria. Paul Hardy, managing director of Hardy Services, said: “Each project has its own challenges, from reservoir flood contingencies, crayfish to ecological and environmental issues.”
