A BURNLEY couple who travelled to the other side of the world chose the opportunity to publicise Pendleside Hospice.

Mr and Mrs John and Irene Roche, who live near Towneley Park, trekked through the Himalayas, taking the Mount Everest trail.

For part of the two-week expedition they wore Pendleside Hospice T-shirts to raise awareness of the charity and its work.

Mr Roche completed the Everest Marathon several years ago and this time his wife helped him retrace his steps. The couple, in their fifties, took photographs along the route and reached 15,000ft.

They flew to Kathmandu in Nepal before catching another flight into the Himalayas.
