An awards night was held at a Burnley high school to celebrate the achievements of its students.
Awards were handed out to pupils from Years seven to 11 at Blessed Trinity RC College in Ormerod Road.
Among those honoured by headteacher Mr Richard Varey were former head boy Oliver Daley who collected an award for drama. Oliver, now studying drama and theatre studies at St Mary’s College, Blackburn, also received an award for his contributionto the community.
Hayley Johnson was presented with the English literature award and the prize for outstanding GCSE results as she gained 10, all A.*
Rachel Stracey and Abbey Bracken were handed awards for outstanding GCSE results and received the GCSE course award for maths, further maths and science.
Mr Varey said: “It was great to see all the students return to the school and to have the opportunity to shout out about what superb students they were and to reward them for that.”
Guest speaker Simon Brierley of 2BR Radio gave a talk about job opportunities for young people in the North West and hopes for the future after Burnley was voted the most enterprising town in the UK.
