Strike closes schools in Burnley and Padiham: more schools added

Schools across Burnley and Padiham are closed today as two leading unions – the NUT and NASUWT – have asked members to take industrial action against the government’s pay and pension reform plans spearheaded by minister Michael Gove.

Closures hit Brunshaw Primary School, which is closed to pupils in Years 1,2,3,4 and 5; Ightenhill Primary School, whole school; St James’ Lanehead CE Primary School, whole school; St Stephen’s CE Primary School, whole school; Whittlefield Primary School, whole school; Christ the King RC Primary School, whole school; Padiham Green CE Primary School, classes 1,2 3 and 6 closed (reception and classes 4 and 5 open); Padiham Primary School, whole school; Rosewood Primary School, whole school; Shuttleworth College, whole school; Taywood Nursery School and Extended Services, whole whole school; Unity College, whole school; Worsthorne Primary School, whole school.

Also: Heasandford Primary School, Burnley, whole school closure; Holy Trinity CE Primary School, Burnley, Years 2 and 6; Stoneyholme Community Primary School, Burnley, one reception class and one Year 1 class (the remainder of pupils attend); Hameldon Community College, Burnley, whole school; Rosegrove Infant School, Burnley, closed to reception and Year 1 and 2 pupils (remainder of pupils attend as scheduled); Sir John Thursby Community College, Burnley, whole school; Wellfield Methodist and Anglican Church School, Burnley, recepetion and Years 1 and 6.
