Burnley College has appointed a former Blessed Trinity RC College pupil as student governor.
Rebecca Emmott, an advanced health and social care student, will work with Burnley College’s governing board, alongside A-level student Konrad Koltun, to influence and contribute to decisions made about the college. In particular, she will advise the board about student-related matters.
Miss Emmott intends to go to university to study nursing, which will enable her to become a neo-natal nurse. She also volunteers for Pendleside Hospice one day a week to gain a certificate in volunteering.
Shelagh Derwent, chairman of the governing board, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rebecca to the board and look forward to her valuable opinions on the important decisions we make. One of the board’s key aims is to help the college develop positive relationships with the community and we are sure the voluntary work Rebecca has already taken part in will help her to achieve this.”
