A Lancashire County Council chief has congratulated students across the county on their GCSE results this year.
County Coun. Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: “There’s been much talk of ‘turbulence’ in this year’s GCSE results and I think it’s fair to say Lancashire schools have been affected by this, as have others around the country.
“Against this backdrop, though, students in Lancashire have held their own and early indications show that the proportion of pupils leaving school with five or more good passes including English and maths has remained steady overall.
“These are not easy times for our GCSE students and I’d like to congratulate everyone involved for their hard work.”
