Former Burnley headteacher dies

A service will be held in memory of Margaret Nelthorpe (nee Holden), who has died aged 84 in the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Mrs Nelthorpe, a former resident of Burnley, was a well-known figure in Ladies’ Circles and previously worked as headteacher of Burnley Wood Top CE Infant School and Coal Clough School.

The mother of two leaves her daughter Lynne, son Ian, son-in-law Wade and daughter-in-law Alison. She will also be missed by grandchildren Charlotte, Maya, Kit, Megan, Georgina and Isabelle and great-grandchild Travis.

The service will take place at St Matthew’s Church followed by committal at the town’s crematorium.

Floral tributes should be made by family members only but donations will be welcomed by Pendleside Hospice.
