Budding young journalists swopped their classroom for the Burnley Express office to find out more about writing the news.

Nine inquisitive four and five-year-old youngsters, from the reception class at St Joseph’s Park Hill, off Padiham Road, interviewed Express editor Mr Chris Daggett and reporters about their work and had a tour of the Bull Street building.

Armed with reporters notebooks they also met Corner Club’s Auntie Sue and got the chance to see how the newspaper is produced, while Henry Bithell (4) took up the position of editor for the morning.

Reception teacher Mrs Gemma Parsons, who led the trip along with early years teacher Miss Charlotte Fidoe, said: “Throughout school the themed topic has been good news and we’ve taken that into all the literacy classes.

“They loved the trip, one of the children said it was the best trip ever and another made his own newspaper and wrote about Burnley Football Club winning promotion.”
