A Burnley opera singer has hit another high note after receiving an award for his business.
Sean Ruane, who founded Chant Productions three years ago, picked up a Business Leader award from BAE Systems following his work helping to establish a workplace choir at the Military Air and Information arm of the aerospace business.
The former St Theodore’s RC School pupil recently trained Burnley schoolchildren to perform on the BBC’s Children in Need programme as well as big national sporting events.
Sean said: “When I initially approached BAE and suggested the idea of a workplace choir they were particularly interested in some of the wider benefits it would bring.
“Choral singing is well known for improving mental and physical health.
“The net result has seen improved well-being for the individuals involved and improved productivity for the company.”
Chant works with businesses, schools and other organisations, building choirs of anywhere up to 300 children and adults.
It then trains the singers and offers the choirs the opportunity to perform at major events.
