A CLARETS star was grilled by inquisitive youngsters during a visit to a Padiham School.

Ben Mee was put in the hot seat by Year 1 pupils at St Leonard’s Primary School as part of a class project on Burnley Football Club.

The children, who have been learning about the Clarets, got the chance to ask the star defender a host of questions.

Adele Hargreaves, Year 1 teacher, said: “They were all really nervous but excited about a Burnley player coming in.

“The children thought up their own questions to ask. He was being grilled by 24 children. He answered all their questions and was brilliant with the kids.

“They will now be writing their own newspaper on it.”

As part of the project, the youngsters also got the chance to tour Turf Moor, learn about the history of the club and watch Burnley’s Championship game against Millwall.

Miss Hargreaves added: “It has been football mad. But the children are writing and learning about something they have enjoyed.”
