DRIVERS in Burnley are being warned about possible delays while a major roundabout is closed for overnight works.
The roundabout, at the junction of Westway, Cavalry Way, Accrington Road and Barracks Road is to be closed for resurfacing between 8pm and 6am from Tuesday until to the morning of Saturday, September 1st.
Through-traffic will be diverted along Kiddrow Lane, Liverpool Road, Rossendale Road, Manchester Road and Trafalgar Street.
To keep disruption to a minimum a dedicated lane will be kept open for traffic travelling into the centre of Burnley along Cavalry Way and Westway. However, there is no room to provide a through-route for traffic travelling out of the centre, which will! be signed along the diversion route.
Duncan Reeve, highways manager for Burnley, said: “I’d like to apologise for any disruption and to thank people for their patience while we carry out essential work to provide a new road surface on this roundabout.
“We’re doing it over four nights to get it finished as quickly as we can and to minimise any inconvenience as far as possible.
“We need to close the majority of the roundabout to get the work done safely and to allow the new surface to cool and harden-off without being damaged.”
