Dream VIP ride for brave young firework victim Tyler

Car crazy Tyler Norris-Sayers got a ride in his dream car on Sunday as a special treat to help him recover from devastating injuries he suffered in a firework accident.

Tyler was a passenger in the 2001 390 horsepowered Subaru Impreza WRX wagon, owned by Lee Egan of the Jap2Jap car club which organised the event after hearing about what had happened to the 10-year-old.

The high powered convoy drove to Tyler's front door in Sycamore Avenue before whisking him and his mum, Nicola, off for a spin round Burnley.

Nicola said: "Tyler was a bit overwhelmed at first but he absolutely loved it.

"He has loved cars since he was little so this was a dream come true for him."

Tyler's plight has touched the hearts of so many people after he was hit in the eye when a firework flew into the crowd during a demonstration at the Railway Club in Rosegrove.

The Whittlefield Primary School pupil was back in hospital today to undergo a second operation to replace a special membrane over his eye made of amniotic fluid that will help to protect Tyler's eye by keeping it moist and allowing damaged stem cells underneath to re-grow.

Jap2Jap member Alicia Mitchell wanted to do something to help Tyler so the club contacted the Burnley Express to set up a meet in the town with a special VIP ride laid on.

Known as the "Ultimate Japanese car club" dozens of cars met on the Empire Business Park in Liverpool Road for the high powered fest and members of the Blackburn Impreza Club and Subaru owners club of Manchester also went along for the event where they got the opportunity to show off their performance vehicles.

After his ride out, Tyler was presented with a goody bag of gifts including a hoody from Voodoo Vinyls and a selection of treats from Car Girl Culture.
