Three derelict homes in the Accrington Road area are to be pulled down as part of a clearance programme.
Burnley Council’s Executive Committee agreed to the demolition of the houses in Athol Street North and improvements to neighbouring homes to go ahead.
Numbers 34, 36 and 38 will now be included in a clearance area so they can be acquired and pulled down. The committee also approved an environmental improvement scheme on 20-32 Athol Street North, including structural work and re-painting.
A report to the Executive said the council had considered renovating 34-38 but the homes were in such a state of disrepair it would not have been cost effective. Two of the three houses have been empty for more than 10 years.
Coun. John Harbour, Executive member for housing and environment, said: “These three houses have caused problems for local residents for some time and I’m sure they will be happy to see action being taken.
