Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed near a cash machine in Burnley.

The 60-year-old victim had withdrawn money from the machine at the One Stop store in Colne Road at around 8-45am on Tuesday.

She was walking along Barden Lane with the money in her hand when she was approached by two men. One of them then snatched the money from her hand before they both run off in the direction of Colne Road.

Det. Sgt Phil McGauley from Burnley CID said: “This is a despicable crime against a woman who had just visited a cash machine to access her own money.

“Someone must have seen something as this incident happened in the early morning when people would have been out and about.

“We are investigating this crime and I would ask that anyone who has any information about this incident, or who may have seen two males acting suspiciously in the vicinity at this time to get in touch.”

Both men are described as white, 5ft. 9ins. and in their early 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police Det. Sgt Phil McGauley on 01282 472511 or call 101 quoting incident reference 276 of November 24th.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
