Four people have been rushed to hospital after a serious road accident in Kelbrook.

The A56 (Skipton Road) was closed for four hours following a head-on collision involving a Ford Transit van and a Mercedes E280 the Old Stone Trough at around 4-30pm.

While the injuries are said to be serious they are not thought to be life-threatening. A third vehicle is also thought to have been involved.

Some 15 emergency vehicles were called to the scene along with the air ambulance.

A statement from Colne and West Craven Police at the time of the crash said: “The main road has been closed at Kelbrook roundabout towards Colne and from the Hare and Hounds Foulridge towards Kelbrook. There will be significant disruption to traffic for a number of hours and it is advised to avoid the area as it will be impassable for some time.”
