Two friends assaulted on Burnley dance floor

Two young men suffered nasty injuries after being assaulted on the dance floor of a Burnley bar in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 23-year-old was assaulted at Sanctuary Rock Bar, Cow Lane, by two men who punched, kicked and stamped on him.

As a result of the assault, the victim sustained a broken jaw and lost two front teeth.

He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he is awaiting surgery. The victim’s friend tried to help but he was also assaulted and kicked in the face knocking him unconscious.

Det. Sgt Alisa Wilson said: “The assault was completely unprovoked and the victims have sustained nasty injuries.

“Two men were arrested shortly after the incident at separate locations in Burnley town centre and are currently in police custody.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have information about the assault to contact Burnley police on 101 quoting log reference 98/1409.”
