FIREFIGHTERS were called to two fires in empty houses on Sunday evening.
The first, at 7-30 p.m., started on a sofa in the living room of a house in Hurtley Street, Stoneyholme. Youths had been seen running in and out of the house.
Then, later in the evening, police were contacted by concerned neighbours who saw a youth pouring a liquid accelerant through the letterbox of a house in nearby Lawn Street.
Crew manager Lee Pickup said that the second incident did not lead to a fire, luckily, as the floor was tiled, but there was significant fire damage to the house in Hurtley Street.
Anyone with information can call police on 425001 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
