Teens arrested after Padiham police car chase

TWO teenagers were arrested in Padiham after a dramatic police car chase.

The youths were chased through the streets of the town after allegedly stealing a van in Clayton-le-Moors last night.

The police helicopter was scrambled in the hunt for the two 16-year-olds in the Vauxhall van.

The pair abandoned the vehicle in St Giles Street near the Gardeners Arms pub around 9pm after driving it around four miles.

One of the youths was arrested at the scene by police.

Officers and police dogs scoured the area with the help of the force helicopter and the second suspect was arrested nearby a short time later.

The first youth was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and driving a vehicle dangerously. The second teenager was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taken. The pair were due to be questioned by officers today.

One vehicle is believed to have been damaged in the chase.
