Teenager attacked in Briercliffe

POLICE are appealing for information after an 18-year-old man was viciously assaulted in Briercliffe.

Around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1st, the teenager was walking alone along Talbot Street when he was approached by four to five men.

He was punched and repeatedly kicked to the floor leaving him with serious injuries before the group made off.

The teenager, who is from Burnley, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital suffering from a broken jaw.

The offenders are Asian, aged between 17 and 18 and were wearing dark clothing.

One of the attackers was wearing a distinctive black hooded top with gold stripes.

PC Qaiser Jabbar, of Burnley police, said: “This was a vicious and completely unprovoked attack. Although we have spoken to local residents, we are also keen to speak with anybody else who may have witnessed this attack or has any information about it. I would urge people to get in touch with any amount of information.”
