Sex offender didn't want police to disturb his bereaved family

Kyle Killian (22) had been wanted by officers for failing to register his address.

Killian, who is from Burnley, is on the Sex Offenders' Register. He was originally jailed for three years and four months in January 2015, for sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl. The sentence was later reduced to two years' detention on appeal.

Killian currently has no fixed address and is meant to sign on at the police station every seven days

The defendant, formerly of Wordsworth Street, is now back behind bars. He was given 28 days after admitting failing to comply with the notification requirements of the register.

Miss Parveen Akhtar (prosecuting) told the town's magistrates the defendant was released from prison on March 6th and registered at Burnley police station the same day. He also registered on March 14th but failed to do so on March 21st.

Mr Daniel Frazer (defending) said: "He is currently on licence, for which he has been recalled. He knows, regardless of whatever happens today, he will be looking at an immediate term or custody."

People in the local area had issues with Killian and he suffered an injured nose at the hands of some of them. Killian didn't realise he could have gone to another police station to register.

The solicitor said Killian's father had offered him a fixed address for when he is released from prison.

Mr Frazer added: "He did hand himself in yesterday, so the police wouldn't be going to his parents' at what is quite a sad time in the Killian household."
