Police need help tracing a man who has absconded from prison.

Alan Brogan, 30, formerly of the Preston area, left the prison at some time before 9pm on Wednesday, October 7.

In July 2009 he was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for wounding with intent, aggravated burglary, robbery, theft and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Brogan is known to have links to Preston but may have travelled further afield.

DC David Kerigan said: “If anyone has seen Alan Brogan, I would urge them to let us know.

“We are advising the public not to approach him but to contact the police instead.”

He is described as being 6ft 1ins tall with light coloured hair, blue eyes and of slim build. He has a distinctive tattoo on his right forearm of the word ‘Brogan’.
