Police are appealing for help tracing a wanted man.

Michael Quigley (33), formerly of Burnley was released from prison on Monday on licence but failed to return to his probation hostel in Blackburn for curfew at 9pm.

He has a history of violence and police are warning members of the public not to approach him.

Quigley was jailed in December 2013 for a burglary.

He is formerly of Athol Street South in Burnley and still has links to the town, in particular the Burnley Wood and Bank Hall areas.

He is described as white, medium build, 5ft. 6in. tall and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, grey tracksuit bottoms and black trainers. He appears to have recently shaved his head.

Chief Insp. Justin Srivastava said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries to try to trace Quigley but I would appeal to the public for their help. If anyone knows where he might be then I would urge them to contact us.

“Quigley is a potentially violent man both towards others and himself and I would urge people not to approach him directly but to contact police on the emergency 999 number if they see him.”
