A POLICE car has crashed into the front of a Burnley taxi firm.

The car was travelling down Manchester Road at 4-40pm when it was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra pulling out of the Inn On The Wharf car park.

The police car lost control and careered across the other side of the road and over a pavement before smashing into the front of Millennium Taxis.

The officer driving the car suffered minor head injuries and has been taken to hospital as a precaution. The man driving the Vauxhall Astra was left shaken. Nobody else was injured.

Mr Andrew Dent, who was in his car at the time and saw the whole incident unfold, said: “The road goes into two lanes just outside the pub and the police car was on the outside lane, going past another car when the car came out of the Inn On The Wharf. They just mustn’t have seen each other.”

The road has remained open.
