Police appeal following assault in Rawtenstall

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault that took place in Rawtenstall.

The incident took place on in the early hours of New Years Day on Tuesday 1st January between 1:00am and 3:30am outside Nino’s restaurant on Bacup Road.

The victim, a 24 year old local man was punched in the face causing him to fall to the ground receiving a cut to his head that required hospital treatment.

It is not known exactly what happened but officers believe that there may have been a disturbance inside the restaurant that spilled out onto the street and police are appealing for anyone who was in the restaurant at the time and who witnessed something to come forward.

PC Darren Davies from Burnley police said, “I would appeal to anyone who was either in the area at the time or in the restaurant and who witnessed what happened to come forward and contact the police.

“The victim needed to receive medical attention and we need to establish what happened and track down the person responsible.”
