POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a motorcyclist died in a road traffic collision in Gisburn Road, Blacko yesterday (Monday).

The collision took place around 4-35 p.m. when a Ford Transit travelling towards Gisburn collided with a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction, close to Tower Farm.

The 47-year-old motorcyclist, from Nelson, was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

The road was closed for more than three hours to allow an investigation to take place.

Sgt Steve Wignall from the Force Road Policing Unit said: “I would appeal to anybody that witnessed the collision to come forward and contact Lancashire Police on 101.”
