A man and a woman approached the couple and asked for a light. When the man said he did not have one the offender started getting abusive and punched the man.

The victim fell to the floor at which point a second man come over and also punched the victim. The woman, who was with the offender, also punched the victim before all three offenders left the area.

PC Trevor Syrett, from Burnley police, said: “Fortunately the victim only sustained minor injuries but I would appeal to anybody that recognises either of the men or the woman in the CCTV images to come forward and call police on 101.”
