A pensioner suffered serious neck injuries after falling while on a bus in Burnley.

The 76-year-old woman was hurt after boarding the Burnley-bound bus on Padiham Road near the Spar shop.

Police said she was attempting to sit down when she fell and suffered a serious injury to her neck.

The incident happened just before midday on Thursday, February 27th.

Sgt Claire Pearson, of Burnley Police, said: “We are trying to establish why this lady has fallen and so we are keen to speak to anyone who was on the bus at the time – we know there were several people on the bus at the time and so I would ask anyone that was to contact us if they saw what happened.”
