A Pendle pervert has been jailed for four years after making or distributing up to 25,000 child porn images over two periods.

David Worrell (30), of Park Avenue, Barrowford, used the word “paedo” to password protect his library of images.

Worrell even chatted online to other paedophiles on a file sharing website about rape and sex with young females, Burnley Crown Court heard.

Worrell was arrested in October last year when police executed a warrant on his address, then in Dent Street, Colne, seizing his laptop computer.

Police discovered images of girls from the age of three to early teens.

Mr Stephen Parker (prosecuting) told the court he admitted, on arrest, it was like he had an addiction and sharing the images was “stupid”.

Worrell described it as being “sick to be honest” and accepted it was wrong. Worrell said he had been doing it for about a year.

Mr Parker said the images were all of girls in sexual activity with adult males.

He said that while password encrypting his images, Worrell was also acquiring passwords from other people.

Mr Parker said Worrell had stored the images in music files under popular music artist names.

While on bail for the first offence, Worrell was investigated again by police in July this year when he was living in Barrowford.

Mr Parker told the court Worrell admitted: “I know there is something wrong with me” as a laptop, two USB drives and a mobile phone were recovered.

Mr Martin Hackett (defending) said these were “truly awful offences of their type.”

Mr Hackett said Worrell had “lost everything” after his partner of seven years had ended the relationship and he had not had contact with his three-year-old son.

Mr Hackett said Worrell was “trying to make sense why he committed these awful acts.”

Sentencing, Judge Beverly Lunt told Worrell there is clearly “something very, very wrong with you” in the way he was able to gain sexual gratification from watching the rape and abuse of young children. She accepted he had lost a lot.

Worrell was given a Sexual Offenders Prevention Order for life and signed the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
