Padiham Town Council clerk denies fraud charges

Elizabeth Bolton (59), of Palace Gardens, Padiham Road, Burnley, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of fraud between June 2007 and December 2011 when she was in the role of Clerk to Padiham Town Council.

The first count relates to paying herself a salary more than she was entitled to and the second takking money out of the mayor’s charity account and putting it into the main account.

Bolton entered the pleas at Burnley Crown Court on Thursday and a four-day trial has been set for August 26th.

The next hearing for the case will be held on May 8th.
