A PADIHAM man has today been sentenced to prison at Burnley Crown Court after pleading guilty to a life changing assault on a man in October 2011.
Ryan Williamson (30) of Ingham Street admitted attacking 48-year-old Carlo Robinson at his home in Melbourne Street on Friday, October, 21st last year.
Williamson pleaded guilty to section 20 wounding in February and will now serve two years and four months.
Police were notified by the ambulance service the following day when Mr Robinson was found unconscious with serious head injuries. He was admitted to hospital where he was sedated due a mass bleed on the brain.
Mr Robinson remained in a critical condition for several weeks and spent a considerable time in a coma in specialist care at Hope Hospital, Salford, and rehabilitative care in Burnley.
Williamson was friends with Mr Robinson and attacked him after a disagreement.
Det. gtS Nick Hodgeson from Burnley CID said: “This was a horrendous assault and for quite some time it was feared by medical staff that Mr Robinson would not survive.
“He is still recovering from the attack and sadly doctors believe he will suffer lasting if not permanent brain damage.”
