A WOMAN has appeared before Burnley magistrates accused of killing her four-month-old son at a house in Burnley.
Natalie Jane McMillan (24), now of Dirkhill Road, Bradford, is charged with manslaughter.
She is accused of unlawfully killing Kian Shaun Anthony McMillan at a house in Scarlett Street, Burnley, on December 6th last year.
The defendant is also accused of child cruelty and neglect.
It is alleged that on or between last December 5th and 6th she wilfully assaulted, ill treated, neglected, abandoned or exposed the baby in a manner likely to cause him unnecessary suffering or injury to health.
Her partner, Edward Hanratty (40) of the same address, is also charged with cruelty and neglect.
The defendants did not indicate pleas. Their cases were sent to Burnley Crown Court for a hearing on May 21st.
McMillan and Hanratty were bailed on condition they live at Dirkhill Road and do not contact prosecution witnesses. They are not allowed to enter Burnley, except to attend court.
