More than 100 new police cadets have been recruited to work in Burnley and other parts of East Lancashire.
Training is already underway for the 54 Burnley cadets, consisting 25 juniors aged 13-15 and 29 seniors aged 16-18 from across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale all meeting at Burnley College, who started on January 7th.
Sgt Natasha Shaw, who is coordinating the cadet scheme in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale, said: “This is a great scheme which we are extremely pleased to be able to offer to young people in the local area.
“The cadets bring with them a wealth of skills to the programme and to their community, truly representing the people that we serve and their own age groups in such a positive way.
“It’s already been great working with youngsters who really want to make a difference to their community as well as their own lives, building on and learning new skills that will stay with them.
“They are already on week two of their training and are handling everything we have thrown at them. They are all fired up ready for the tasks we have planned for them once they have finished their induction.”
