Police are appealing for information following the discovery of a man’s body in Rawtenstall.

The body was found by police at 3-50 a.m. in Kay Street on Saturday. Paramedics were called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead.

The man has been identified as 18-year-old Ryan Anderton who was from the local area.

A post-mortem examination was carried out but the results are inconclusive and the cause of death is still unknown. Specially trained officers are supporting his family.

Det. Supt. Neil Hunter said: “At this stage we are treating Ryan’s death as unexplained. I am very keen to hear from people who were with Ryan on Friday evening going into Saturday morning.

“If anyone was in the Kay Street area in the early hours of Saturday morning and witnessed anything suspicious then I would ask them to get in touch.

“We are very much keeping an open mind as to what has happened and whilst this may have been tragic circumstances I cannot rule out any third party involvement.”

Two men have been arrested and are being questioned at Burnley police station.
