WANTED: Police want to speak to this man in connection with an assault at The Mix, Burnley. (s)

POLICE are hunting a man after another man was headbutted in a Burnley bar before Christmas.

The offence took place at around 11-45pm on “Mad” Friday, December 21st, at The Mix Bar in St James’s Row.

The 40-year-old victim was stood outside on the terrace having a cigarette when he started talking to two men. Without provocation one of the men then headbutted him before being pulled away by his friends and running away.

The victim, who is from Burnley, was left with swelling and bruising to his nose.

PC Carla Martin, from Burnley Police said: “CCTV footage shows numerous people stood on the balcony at the time of the incident so I would appeal for any witnesses to the attack or for the man himself to come forward.

“The offender was out with a group of people, one of whom was dressed up as superman wearing a red cape so the group were distinctive.

“If you were out on the Friday before Christmas and recognise the man in the CCTV or have any information that could assist with our investigation please call Lancashire Police on 101.”

The offender is described as being white with short dark hair and was wearing dark trousers and a white T-shirt.

People with information can also contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
