A man was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after being hit by a car outside a Burnley pub.

The pedestrian, believed to be 35 years old, was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa outside the Turf Hotel in Yorkshire Street on Sunday at around 8-45pm.

The road was closed for several hours between Belvedere Road and Church Street while an investigation was carried out.

The man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
