Police are appealing for information after a man was found collapsed in a street in Burnley.
Stuart Mottram (35), of Green Street, Burnley, was found by a local resident at the back of Parliament Street/Dall Street in the early hours of Monday morning
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Monday evening where he is currently in a critical but stable condition.
He has received multiple injuries, but at this stage the police are unable to establish how the injuries have been sustained.
Det. Insp. Jim Elston said: “The appeal is for anyone who may have information as Stuart’s movements on Sunday evening until he was taken to hospital on Monday afternoon. In particular anyone that has information that may assist in establishing how he has come to be so seriously injured. I am seeking expert opinion as to the likely cause of his injuries and while remaining open minded I am investigating the incident on the assumption Stuart has been assaulted by someone.”
Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
