Man denies throwing bottle at Joey Barton at Burnley match

A man has denied throwing a Coca Cola bottle at footballer Joey Barton. John Pounder (26), of Cedar Avenue, Haslingden, appeared at Burnley Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of using threatening words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence or provoke unlawful behaviour. He also denies throwing a missile onto a football playing area under the Football Offences Act 1991. Pounder is alleged to have committed the offences at Burnley’s clash with Queens Park Rangers on October 26th. The case was adjourned until December 6th.
