A MAN has been charged after a teenage girl was allegedly raped and kidnapped at knife-point on the Turf Moor estate in Burnley.

The 17-year-old girl had been walking home from Burnley town centre at 3-30 a.m. on Sunday when the alleged attack is said to have taken place in an alleyway leading to disused garages near Brownhill Avenue.

Lee John Reilly (22), of Dover Street, Nelson, was charged with rape, kidnapping, assault by penetration and possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared before Pennine magistrates on Monday and will appear before them again on Monday, March 26th, for crown court committal proceedings.
