POLICE have launched an appeal after a man was assaulted during a night out in Burnley.

It is believed the victim (21) was outside the BB11 bar in Coal Street around 1am on May 27th when two men punched and kicked him in the face. He was left with severe bruising, and needed stitching in his eye.

PC Darren Jones said: “This was a nasty, seemingly unprovoked assault and I am very keen to speak to anyone that may have witnessed what happened.”

One of the offenders is described as being white, of large, muscular build with short hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt with two dark, horizontal stripes across the chest and a dark coloured pocket and light coloured trousers.
