Knife-point robbery at Burnley phone shop

Detectives are appealing for information after two masked raiders wielding large kitchen knives burst into a Burnley phone shop and threatened to stab the owner and his staff.

In a terrifying robbery on New Year’s Day, the offenders made their way into Sana Communications, Colne Road, but staff fought back and threw a stepladder at one of the robbers after he was trapped inside by boss Mohammed Jabar, (62).

The incident happened just before 6 pm on Wednesday (January 1st).

Police are continuing to appeal to witnesses to come forward. Sgt Martyn Holt, of Burnley Police, said: “There was a robbery on New Year’s Day between 5-50 pm and 5-55 pm at Sana Comm in Colne Road.

“Two offenders with their faces covered entered the premises and produced a knife and threatened the shopkeeper.

“They attempted to enter the till, didn’t manage it, and stole some mobile phones before leaving through the front door.

“Anyone who say anything suspicious in the area at the should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
