Jail for pair who attacked assistant and stole ring from Burnley jewellers

Two men who assaulted a shop assistant and stole a ring from a Burnley jewellers have been jailed.

Burnley Crown Court was told Dale Perry (31) and Nigel Canning (41) had originally been charged with robbery, at the Ernest Jones shop. They admitted theft and common assault that involved “some scuffling” as they left the premises, last August 29th.

Canning, of Lyndhurst Road, Burnley, was jailed for 14 months.

Perry, of Springfield Bank, Burnley, a drug addict with a long record, also pleaded guilty to other offences and was jailed for a total of 35 months. He admitted possessing cannabis, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and no insurance. He was also banned for two years .
