The project director of the Help the Homeless group East Lancashire has been arrested as part of a protest against austerity cuts.
Wesley Hall (32) of Castle Street, Nelson, was arrested and charged with Section 39 assault following a demonstration in Albert Square, outside Manchester Town Hall.
He will appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on May 14th.
The town hall was granted an injunction to move a group of anti-cuts protesters who had been camped out in Albert Square for five days.
A demonstration the previous Wednesday saw some protesters storm the building resulting in a broken window and allegations of an assault on a security guard.
Staff were kept inside the town hall for around two hours while police made the building safe.
