A gang of youths have caused £50,000 worth of damage at a warehouse in Barnoldswick.

Twenty-five youths are believed to have been involved in the break-in which saw them using forklift trucks to drive around the inside of the property damaging walls and stock.

A number of youths have been arrested in relation to the incident.

This follows reports of a number of vehicles being damaged in and around the town centre and the Colne and Manchester Road areas of the town.

Vehicles have been targeted by offenders who have been slashing tyres with a sharp pointed instrument, possibly a knife.

A police spokesman said: "Our records show that theses damages are taking place at weekends and are happening between 6pm and midnight and possibly during the early hours of the morning.

"Groups of youths have been seen in these areas during weekends. We ask all parents to ask themselves these questions; where are my children in the evenings? What are they up too? And to check their pockets for any object that has the potential to do someone harm or cause damage to vehicles and report this to the police.

"Barnoldswick Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out extra patrols in the area as well as patrols from Colne Neighbourhood Policing Team."

Any information in relation to vehicle damages can be reported through the 101 number or directly to PC Duncan Park at duncan.park@lancashire.pnn.police.uk or on 07866780991. PCSO Neil Wallin can also be contacted at neil.wallin@lancashire.pnn.police.uk or mobile 07866787625.
