Carol Kemp, handed a life sentence after stabbing the boyfriend she met online

A FORMER Burnley woman has been jailed for life for fatally stabbing a boyfriend she met online.

Carol Kemp (45) killed Martin Rusling (44) in his bungalow on the island of Portland, Dorset, in the early hours of December 28th 2011. Mr Rusling, who worked as a laminator, was found dead at the scene. Kemp, who now lives in Torquay, was found guilty of murder at Winchester Crown Court on Tuesday. She was told that she would serve a minimum of 13 years, by Judge Linda Dobbs.

Detective Inspector Neil Devoto, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Martin was very well loved by his family and friends and described as a very friendly, happy and caring person.

“We believe that Martin, who was in a short relationship with Kemp, wanted to end the relationship over the Christmas period and she reacted violently, stabbing him in the chest with a kitchen knife.”
