FIVE men suspected of firebombing a Burnley house have been arrested by police.
Officers swooped on the gang after a property in Angle Street was broken into and torched in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Neighbours had reported a suspected break-in at the terraced property around 1-30am before flames were spotted in a downstairs room.
Fire crews were called in to tackle two blazes which had been started in the living room of the property. The tenant had not been in the house at the time of the incident.
A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “When we got there we found two small fires in the front room.
“There was nobody in the house. The windows had been smashed. It looks like someone had used a lighter to light what was there. There was a couch and a bookshelf. They had tried to ignite it.
“The front room was quite badly damaged.”
A police investigation is ongoing into the blaze.
